Appointments: Partner promotions at law firm; Director appointment at construction group; Dance theatre names executive director

LAW firm Ward Hadaway has made two partner promotions.

James Nightingale is a corporate lawyer with over 12 years of experience of acting for private and public companies on an extensive variety of matters including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, stock market flotations and fundraisings, investments, reorganisations and restructurings.

His work has included advising clients across a range of corporate services operating in a broad spectrum of industry sectors, including healthcare, energy and infrastructure.

Robert Rushton is a member of Ward Hadaway’s extensive healthcare team and has experience in a range of areas in the clinical negligence sector and specialises in defending claims on behalf of the NHS Litigation Authority and NHS Trusts.

He advises on areas including head injury and neurosurgical claims, and obstetric claims, as well as  acute and mental health NHS Trusts in relation to inquests and is regularly involved in providing training talks to clients on a variety of legal issues.

A SENIOR member of staff at Sewell Group has been appointed director of estates with expertise spanning both the facilities management and construction areas of the business.

Sean Henderson has been appointed director of operations (Sewell Estates).

He began his career from a trade background in 1983, from the grassroots of the industry, and brings more than 30 years of experience, management and knowledge of construction methods and practices to the business.

Before joining the Sewell Group as construction project manager in 2008, he held a senior position at a regional contractor, gaining experience through the successful delivery of many commercial, social housing, health and education schemes.

In 2013, he joined the Sewell Facilities Management division and spent three years as head of operations, overseeing the day to day running and management of more than 100 staff across the company’s health and education projects, as well as a number of NHS contracts.

Mr Henderson, who is currently supporting the Sewell team on site at the £30m University of Hull student residences, said: “The aim is to create a seamless approach and link through construction into facilities management, providing clients with added peace of mind and ensuring buildings remain at day one quality.”

Mark Hollander Phoenix Dance TheatreMARK HOLLANDER is confirmed as Phoenix Dance Theatre’s new executive director.

Mr Hollander, whose appointments include senior manager at Arts Council England and executive director of the award-winning Unlimited Theatre, has more than 25 years’ experience within the arts, cultural and business sectors.

He takes over from Chris Lloyd, who has been the company’s interim chief executive since October 2015 following the departure of Lesley Jackson after six years at the helm.

Mr Lloyd, who is also the producer for 45-year-old Leeds-based Red Ladder Theatre Company, will complete his leadership with Phoenix following the company’s final Spring tour date of its current production, Triple Bill 2016, at York Theatre Royal 16 to 17 June.

Phoenix Dance Theatre is the UK’s longest standing contemporary dance company outside London and recently launched its most ambitious ever fundraising campaign Give 35 for 35 Years to ensure the company’s longevity following a series of cuts to its core funding.

Mr Hollander said: “I am so excited to have been appointed executive director of Phoenix Dance Theatre, a company I’ve admired for many years. I will be very sad to leave Unlimited Theatre where together we have produced some amazing and innovative work and the company is in a great position to continue to flourish. I will be joining a company whose quality and diversity resonates within Yorkshire and also nationally and internationally and I’m greatly looking forward to working alongside Sharon Watson, who tirelessly promotes Leeds as a centre of creativity.”
