Buy Yorkshire strikes again with £8m going into region’s economy

The Yorkshire Mafia returned to The Royal Armouries, Leeds, on the 17 and 18 May for yet another fantastic conference.

Buy Yorkshire is the largest business conference in the North; providing delegates with an opportunity to meet each other, network, trade and develop commercial relationships.

This year Buy Yorkshire welcomed over 150 exhibitors and 5000 registered attendees to The Royal Armouries.

Charlotte Hallas, marketing manager at Formkraft said “It was our first year exhibiting, and we were extremely impressed with the organisation and commitment of the team throughout. We are going through our leads from the show now and it all looks very positive.”

#BuyYorkshire trended on Twitter across 4 days, reaching just over 1 million twitter accounts with 3.8 million timeline hits. 60,000 handshakes, 630 staff, 1300 lunches, 5000 coffees and just over 4000 seminar seats were delivered at Buy Yorkshire 2016.

The event saw a massive immediate impact of £8m going back into the Yorkshire economy and £500 Billion in revenue was represented across the two days.

With a fantastic speaker line-up, Buy Yorkshire welcomed speakers such as The Rt Hon Ann Widdecombe, Terry Waite, Adele Cooper UK Managing Director of Pinterest, Angus McKenna Head of Planning at Sky, Namrata Murlidhar Head of Marketing at LinkedIn, Concept Artist Dan Walker, and M&C Saatchi Chairman Jeremy Sinclair; to name but a few.

Ms Widdecome stated “It is very exciting to be involved in Buy Yorkshire, which has grown into a huge event. There are lessons here for the whole country.”

Wednesdays Billion Pound Panel, featured Richard Corbett MEP, Najib Nathoo, John Hays, Jonathan Straight, Adam Beaumont and Nigel Farage. The panel commented on the Northern Powerhouse, the importance of a premiership team to our economy and many other issues, as well as the highly anticipated BREXIT debate.
