300 year-old pub reopens

A NORTH YORKSHIRE pub which can trace its roots back 300 years is set to reopen following a major investment by new owners.

The Kings Head in Richmond was acquired by the Coaching Inn Group earlier this year.

It has been closed for eight weeks while undergoing a £1m refurbishment, but will reopen on 24 June.

The hotel and pub will be unveiling its eatery and coffee house concept. Its expansion, as part of a £20m investment by the Coaching Inn Group has created 30 jobs.

Hotel manager, Fred Oxlade, said: “The aim of the work was to give this historic coaching inn a new lease of life, whilst maintaining its Georgian architecture. We’re delighted with the outcome and can’t wait to show off our fresh new look and introduce our new Eatery and Coffee House to the local community.

“The Kings Head benefits from being in a prime location on the town’s square and we hope we continue to be known as the go-to-place in Richmond for family-friendly, relaxed all day dining.”

The Coaching Inn Group operates 11 hotels in Yorkshire, Leicester, Lincolnshire, Northampton, Gloucestershire and Wales and aims to double the size its estate by 2017.
