Appointments: Ex-Addleshaw lawyer makes move; Five hires for personal injury law specialist; and more

TONY BERRY has joined Clarion’s 12-strong corporate team as a legal director.

With more than 25 years’ experience of M&A, he joins from Addleshaw Goddard where he spent almost three years in the role of managing associate.  Prior to that, he was a principal solicitor with Eversheds from 1987 until 2013.

Mr Berry has extensive experience advising on a broad range of corporate transactions with particular expertise in domestic and international M&A, public company takeovers and fundraisings, group reorganisations and joint ventures.  He has acted for a number of large UK and US corporates.

Richard Moran, senior partner and head of Clarion’s corporate practice, said: “Our corporate practice is going from strength to strength and our success is down to the quality of our people.  We have recruited and developed an exceptional team and with his strong track record in M&A, Tony will be a welcome addition given the healthy flow of deals we have in the pipeline.”

Mr Berry added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join and further strengthen a highly regarded corporate team which is well known for its long-term investment in client relationships, combined with delivering high quality business-focussed legal advice.”

FIRST4LAWYERS has made five key appointments at its Huddersfield headquarters.

Nick Delaney joins as head of business development and becomes a member of the senior management team.

Shelley Schubert joins as senior marketing executive from Manheim Europe, the car and commercial vehicle auctions and remarketing business, where she was most recently sales and marketing manager, while Alice Sanderson has been hired as social media and digital content executive in her first professional role since graduating from Sheffield University last summer.

Phil Gomes has been recruited as website coordinator and Mark Robson has joined the IT team.

First4Lawyers’ managing director Qamar Anwar says: “Demand for legal services remains high and we see a lot of potential for growth in partnership with our panel law firms, which is why we have expanded our marketing, finance and IT teams.

“We’ve already bolstered our marketing activity, further utilising technology to drive more streamlined and seamless reporting to our panel firms. As a result of our new team, we can now introduce end-to-end tracking, which means we can now follow every enquiry from source through to conversion by our panel members. This will add great strengths to our marketing capabilities in the future and make us much stronger in the face of legislative change.

“It’s also great that we’ve been able to recruit local talent to fill these newly-created positions. We’re in good shape for the challenges of the next few years ahead.”
