Yorkshire votes out as UK decides to leave too

YORKSHIRE and the Humber has voted to leave the EU.

As the region backed the national outcome, Leeds voted to remain by a narrow margin, with 50.3% wanting to stay in while Sheffield declared a victory for leave, with 51% of voters backing an exit.

In Sheffield, turnout was 67.3% while 71.3% voted in Leeds.

Leave also won in Hull, Bradford, Hambleton, North Lincolnshire, Rotherham, Wakefield, Calderdale, Kirklees and Selby.

Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley and Hull all voted two-to-one in support of leaving the European Union.

Craven backed leave followed by similar results in Richmondshire, Scarborough, Ryedale, North East Lincolnshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Barnsley and Doncaster.

Meanwhile, a 51% remain vote came from Harrogate on a turnout of 78.9%, and from York with a 58% vote to remain with 70.6% turning out to vote.
