Beef prices hit turnover at £170m meat manufacturer

A MAJOR supplier of meat to Waitrose, Dovecote Park, is seeing the early effects of deteriorating beef prices.

The West Yorkshire company said that sales remained static as beef prices remained below the previous year, due to an “intensely” competitive marketplace. Dovecote also said Bovine TB was also taking its toll on the industry.

The Extra Detail Ltd group which includes Dovecote Park Ltd, reported its  results for the year to 2 October 2015.

In its accounts, turnover dipped slightly from £174m to £170m for the year, despite a slight increase in volumes produced.

Pre-tax profits however increased to £3.2m from £2.9m.
