Professionals: Post-acquisition rebrand for insurance firm; FCA permissions for newly-launched business finance specialists

THE final piece of the acquisition jigsaw has been completed for Scarborough firm, A. S. Green & Co after being renamed JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers following its acquisition.

The business has changed its name to JM Glendinning following the Leeds-based insurance and risk management services firm JM Glendinning Group, acquiring a majority shareholding in A. S. Green & Co in July last year.

A.S Green was established in 1977 by founder Tony Green. Its team of 12 staff provide business and personal insurance and risk management services to clients on the East Coast of Yorkshire.

Mr Green says that the name change aligns the business with the rest of the JM Glendinning Group of professional services, but that the essence of the business remains the same: “As part of the JM Glendinning Group we have access to more insurers and have greater buying power to source competitive products and services for our clients – the new branding reflects this position. It is very much business as usual and our existing team will continue to offer the friendly, accessible and personal service for the people and businesses of Scarborough and surrounding areas.”

Alison Piercy, JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers North Yorkshire’s MD, says: “Our name change marks the beginning of a new era as part of this well-respected name in the industry. Being part of the group gives us greater strength in the market place whilst allowing us to provide the same personal service that our existing customers have come to expect.”

The JM Glendinning Group comprises eight companies spanning insurance broking, financial services, employment law, health & safety and recruitment services. Founded in Guiseley in 1972, the £8m turnover, privately owned group employs over 130 staff with offices in Leeds, Sheffield, Scarborough, Newcastle and York.
