Warnings from £160m-turnover manufacturer

A LEEDS-BASED pump manufacturer has warned that sales and income in the coming year will be lower that 2015 as order intake and an increasingly competitive market affect results.

Sulzer Pumps UK, part of the global Sulzer Pump group, said that low demand in the struggling oil and gas sector is expected to remain so.

Despite this gloomy outlook, revenues for the year to 31 December 2015 reached £162.5m, up from £143.9m, whilst pre-tax profits increased to £24.8m from £21.0m.

Sulzer is returning on two years ago when revenues reached £174.5m

Leeds-headquartered Sulzer Pumps UK is part of the Sulzer Group, a global company which operates in over 40 countries.

The business develops complex custom engineered high-energy pumps for applications in industry sectors such as oil and gas, power generation and the water industry.
