Chief executive invests £100,000 in Card Factory

THE chief executive at Wakefield-based Card Factory has invested nearly £100,000 in the company.

Karen Hubbard took up her role in April following the departure of Richard Hayes.

She has now acquired 32,197 shares at an average price of 310.6p per share, bringing her investment to £99,910.

Revenue for last year at the specialist retailer was up to £381.6m and profit before tax saw a major spike of 96% up to £83.7m.

This record year will be tough to beat and the greetings card business, which was founded in 1997, posted a “reasonable” start to the year, opening 20 stores in its first quarter with online sales growing 10%.
