TV mill adds Bronte drama to show reel
A KEIGHLEY mill has another filming credit to add to its show reel after scenes from a new BBC Bronte drama were filmed on-site.
Dalton Mills was used for some of the interior scenes from Sally Wainwright’s ‘To Walk Invisible’, which is expected to hit TV screens later this year.
The BBC drama revolves around the three Bronte sisters’ difficult family relationships, in particular with their brother Branwell, who eventually sank into alchoholism and drug use before his death.
Ms Wainwright, its writer and director, has won BAFTAS for her previous work Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley.
Dalton Mills is building up a reputation as a filming location in the North, thanks to its wide range of spaces that can serve as a blank canvas for film crews.
Last year, it was the main backdrop for major feature film, the Limehouse Golem, starring Bill Nighy and Olivia Cooke. Large parts of the set from the Limehouse Golem were left in-situ at the mill, making Dalton Mills one of the only filming locations in the North with a purpose built prison set.
Like the Limehouse Golem, the crew from To Walk Invisible have left some of the set in the mill’s Engine House where they were filming, which might be added to the new events space that is being created in the Genappe Mill.
The events space boasts a stage set from the Limehouse Golem and it has already attracted interest for weddings and shows, when it is complete later this year.
