Chinese property developers sign up to Blades sponsorship deal

SHEFFIELD UNITED have signed a one-year trial sponsorship deal with The Hualing Group, a Chinese property development group.

Along with co-owner Kevin McCabe’s Scarborough Group, The Hualing Group have agreed to a stadium stand deal.

The Xinjiang province group’s name and branding will bedeck the Blades’ South Stand as part of the six-figure deal.

Last September it was announced that the Hualing Industry and Trade Group would be investing Scarborough Group-led schemes in Leeds, Salford and Sheffield with a gross value of £1.2bn.

Leeds’ £400m Thorpe Park development, the £40m Sheffield Digital Campus and the £730m Middlewood Locks project in Salford are all receiving backing from the group.

Scarborough Group’s Mr McCabe said: “The sponsorship is a very positive example of the benefits that can come to the Club through its strong tradition of developing footballing and commercial relationships on an international basis.

“We are delighted to have such an important and flourishing business from China on board with the Blades. Hopefully there will be further ties between The Hualing Group and the Blades to come,” added Mr McCabe.

Michael Rex from The Hualing Group said: “We are delighted to further extend our relationship with Sheffield United as The Hualing Group looks to build awareness of its expansion into overseas markets, particularly here in the United Kingdom where we are already involved in a number of significant projects.”
