Lupton Fawcett Denison Till golf dayLAW firm Lupton Fawcett Denison Till is helping to develop the next generation of British sports stars by raising money for SportsAid.

Seventy golfers, made up of teams from the local professional community and clients, took part in a golf day organised by the law firm to raise funds to give budding young sports stars the financial support and recognition during the critical early stages of their careers.

Helping to swell the coffers on the day was young golfing superstar, Rotherham’s Charlie Daughtrey who, at 13 years old was crowned European champion in his age category and is an under 16 England international. The youngster fulfilled the ‘Beat the Pro’ role at the par three 6th hole.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of SportsAid, which has the Duchess of Cambridge as its patron. Notable alumni, which have been helped by the charity include, Tanni Grey-Thomson, Sharron Davies, Greg Rutherford, Mark Cavendish, Jessica Ennis, Christine Ohuruogu, and Ellie Simmonds.

Daniel McCormack, a director of Lupton Fawcett Denison Till, is also a trustee of SportsAid for Yorkshire and the Humber and is keen to encourage businesses to become involved in the charity.

“There are so many positives companies can get from the association; from helping enhance their Corporate Social Responsibility, through to having enormous pride in helping an athlete to become a potential world beater.

“We would like to thank all the teams which took part in our golf day for supporting such a worthwhile cause. The aim is to make this an annual event and a fixture in the professional community’s golfing calendar.”
