Appointments: Business leaders joins Leeds City Region LEP; Law firm boosts commercial dispute teams; and more

THE LEP has welcomed three private sector members to its board alongside further new business leaders who will sit on the panels overseeing work on skills, business support, innovation and the resource efficiency agenda.

Joining the board are Dave Harris, regional director at RBS Corporate Banking in Yorkshire, Ian Cherry, chief financial officer at Nexus Vehicle Management and Joanna Robinson, managing director of Bradford manufacturing company Mansfield Pollard.

The appointments have been made following three members of the LEP board retiring  – John Parkin from Leeds Bradford Airport, Stephen Harris from Lloyds Banking Group and Mark Ridgway of Group Rhodes.
 
Chairman Roger Marsh said: “I am delighted to welcome such a high calibre of talented business people to our board and panels. The LEP has achieved phenomenal success over the last few years – we have an ambition to create 35,700 jobs over the next 20 years and make the City Region a near £100bn economy by 2036 – and these appointments are set to further bolster our success.”

BARNSLEY accountants Gibson Booth has added to its growing team with the appointment of an accounts and audit assistant.

Philip Dods has joined the company to help with the dealing of small to medium sized businesses.

Mr Dods studied accounting and finance at Sheffield Hallam University and previously worked at an accounting firm in Nottingham.

LAW firm Freeths has expanded its commercial dispute resolution teams in Yorkshire with the recent appointments of Lindsey Clegg, who joins as a partner in the Leeds office and Lisa Greenstreet, who joins as an associate in Sheffield.

Ms Clegg joins from a national law firm and specialises in all aspects of commercial disputes, with specific expertise in complex cross-border disputes, international and domestic arbitration, aviation, commercial and finance disputes.  
She also uses her expertise to assist clients with advice on contractual negotiation and drafting, interpretation, enforcement, termination, renegotiation and amendment, ongoing contract management and risk avoidance.
 
Ms Greenstreet joins from another large national law firm and has a wealth of experience, providing advice on a wide range of complex issues for commercial clients, including breach of contract and supply chain disputes, professional negligence, shareholder disputes, breach of warranty claims, intellectual property and brand protection issues.  Lisa has particular expertise in dealing with matters in the manufacturing and retail sectors and advises both regional and national corporate clients.
