Splendid deal for hotel group with plans to invest £1.5m

A GROWING hospitality group has made its latest hotel acquisition.

The Splendid Hospitality Group has acquired the Ibis York Centre hotel, having already acquired The Grand Hotel & Spa in York, with plans to invest £15m in upgrades.

At the Ibis site, the group has plans to invest £1.5m in the hotel’s facilities over the next two years.

The hotel has 91 en suite rooms as well as a cafe and bar and meeting rooms.

Stuart Bailey, CEO for the Splendid Hospitality Group said: “This is a strategic acquisition for Splendid Hospitality and an ideal fit for our expanding regional portfolio with three existing hotels in York.

“The Ibis York Centre hotel boasts one of the most central locations in York making it equally suitable for both the business and leisure travellers. Ibis belongs to the Accor brand portfolio and we are pleased to further enhance our partnership with Accor.”

The expanding Splendid Hospitality Group portfolio now has 20 hotels and this acquisition follows the purchase of the Mercure Bristol Brigstow.

The Ibis York Centre hotel joins the group’s other properties in the city including Hotel Indigo York and Holiday Inn Express York, as well as The Grand.
