Two Leeds city centre office buildings complete

TWO prime Leeds city centre office developments have completed.

MEPC have announced the completion of 5 Wellington Place, the 75,257 sq fit building to complete the 290,000 sq ft development.

The other addresses at Wellington Place, 1, 2, 6 and 10, have existing tenants including Allianz, Equifax, Shulmans LLP, Sky Betting and Gaming, Irwin Mitchell and Willis Towers Watson.

James Dipple, chief executive at MEPC, the developer and asset manager of Wellington Place, said: “This project is terrific for the business district of Leeds. It’s amazing to see our new customers expanding with their move into their brand new office space.

“We are proud of the planning and preparation of this development scheme and it’s great to see the final result of 5 Wellington Place. The development continues to not only be a workplace but a community for the thriving talent of the evolving Leeds business district.”

Just up the road from the MEPC site, development partners Rockspring Property Investment Managers and Marshall CDP have completed six-storey 6 Queen Street.

The 70,000 sq ft of offices were developed after Rockspring acquired 6 Queen Street in 2014, with construction beginning in September that year.

Richard Fraser of Carter Towler and Elizabeth Ridler of Knight Frank were appointed as joint letting agents and, just recently, Lambert Smith Hampton was appointed as the managing agent.

Rod Mordey, European director at Rockspring, said: “Rockspring had successfully developed speculative offices in London and the South East and brought major speculative development back to Leeds’ city centre in 2014.

“The focus was on high quality design and delivering an extremely efficient building with strong sustainability credentials, because they are key requisites for occupiers and investors alike.”
