Julie Jones is managing director of Leeds-based investment firm Myddleton Croft.

Where do you live/where are you from?

Although I settled in beautiful Harrogate 26 years ago, or as my family like to say ‘Harrowgate’, I’m a Welsh girl born in Pembrokeshire.

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?

Anywhere in the Dales, but particularly the villages from Bolton Abbey to Grassington. The walking is excellent, the scenery stunning and finding somewhere where they serve Black Sheep is always a bonus…

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?

Complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a ‘reasonable’ time.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?

 Celebrating my son’s 21st birthday in The Star Inn at Harome. This was a real treat as he had never been to a Michelin star restaurant before.

What is your most Yorkshire trait?

I’m sure I have absorbed a few, but the one that comes to mind relates to food. I have to make Yorkshire puddings whatever the roast is as my family love them!

Favourite piece of trivia about the region.

Gaping Gill, south of Ingleborough, is a 340ft underground waterfall which is twice the height of Niagara.

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?

The indefatigable Dame Judi Dench, an incredibly versatile actress who defies ageism brilliantly.

First experience of Yorkshire (for non-Yorkshire folk)

Breath taking landscapes and big skies.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?

I’m a long way from my parents and three brothers who all live in the south.

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?

It’s not a ‘thing’ it’s a ‘who’, Peter Kay. One of the funniest observational comedians.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?

Eating cheese with fruit cake, even if it is a Christmas tradition, what’s that about?
