Return of Wharfest music to local’s ears

AFTER a successful launch at the start of 2016, Leeds prepares to host another Wharfest music festival, bringing a host of live bands and DJ sets to Granary Wharf.

Ossett Brewery – which is behind Granary Wharf venues, Archie’s Bar and Kitchen, The Hop and Candle Bar – will be hosting the second Wharfest on Saturday 24th September.

The free riverside festival was launched by the independent Brewery to celebrate the grand opening of Leeds Station’s Southern Entrance but is back this year due to popular demand.

Granary Wharf venues will once again be taken over by live acts for the day with each location offering up something a little different.

Candlebar will be serving up chilled out acoustics while The Hop lines up lively bands and Archie’s hosts DJs until late, including DJ Tav whose set will be a mix of chart, pop, soul, funk, Motown and indie.

Sebastian John, Rebecca Shelley, Bradford’s Waiting for Wednesday, The Sinners, The Snapp and Brothers on the slide are also set to play at the one-day music festival.

Managing director of Ossett Brewery, Jamie Lawson said: “Wharfest aims to bring people who don’t know or haven’t discovered Granary Wharf yet and help put it on the map, as well as celebrate the fact we have the new Southern Entrance, which is just fantastic.”
