1. Open air cinema experience

The Luna Cinema has turned the stunning amphitheatre into the ultimate setting for two nights of classic cinema under the stars. Enjoy the hot food and full bar on site whilst watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Grease on the big screen.

2. Fossgate festival
Date: Sunday 28th August
Location: Fossgate, York

Experience York city life in a unique at Fossgate’s family friendly, continental-style street festival this weekend.

Whether you want to relax in one of the street’s cafes or bars, have fun with the kids or listen to some live music, Fossgate’s weekly celebration is the ideal way to spend a bank holiday Sunday.  

Lined with independent shops, cafes and bars, and home to the beautiful Merchant Adventurers’ Hall, the street has bags of character for both locals and visitors to enjoy.

3. Burniston show
Date: Monday 29th August
Location: Burniston Road, Scarborough

The annual Burniston show is back this Bank Holiday Monday with a vintage display, birds of pray display, Staintondale Foxhounds, live music from the Royal Acordians, hot food and various trade stands. Both adult and children’s competeition classes will be running throughout the day from needlecraft to baking.

4. Black music festival

Date: Sunday 28th August
Location: Potternewton Park, Leeds

Black Music Festival is back this Sunday showcasing the best in reggae, hip hop, r&b, grime, afro beats, gospel and more. The festival will be bringing local, unsigned, national and international artists to the stage as well as a funfair, food stalls and arts and craft activities. 

5. Sheffield’s big soul night
Date: Saturday 27th August
Location: City Hall ballroom, Sheffield

Sheffield’s Biggest soul night returns to Sheffield from 9pm- 2:30 this Saturday. Three rooms will be packed with the sound of northern soul, Motown hits and modern soul anthems.

6. Murder on the terrace
Date: Friday 26th – Sunday 28th August
Location: Temple Newsam, Selby Road, Leeds

This original murder-mystery by David Kerby-Kendall will be an interactive play with references to Downton, Agatha Christie, part romp, part farce and a whole lot of fun. Come along see if you can figure out who the murderer is!

7. Guided walk

Location: Tourist Information Centre, Hull City Hall

For those after a bit of history and fresh air this Bank Holiday, the informal guided walks through Hull’s Old Town might be exactly what you need.

No need to book – just turn up at Tourist Information Centre at Hull City Hall.

8. Ghost walk
Date: Monday 29th August
Location: Town Hall, Sheffield

Feeling brave? Why not go along to one of Sheffield’s walking ghost tours which take place every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of the year. Starting from the front of the Town Hall steps at 7.30pm.
