“Multi-million pound” factory investment creates 80 jobs

HOLIDAY home manufacturer Atlas Leisure Homes is embarking on the construction of a factory that will create at least 80 jobs.

It is investing in a “multi-million pound” project that will see the new factory built in time for the expiry of the lease at its Wiltshire Road premises in Hull, in late 2019.

Atlas is moving its holiday homes storage facility to the 18-acre former Birds Eye Wall’s site and a planning application for the project is due to be considered by Hull City Council by November.

It said that the restrictions caused by its current premises were costing money and jobs.

Joint managing director Andy Innes said: “We can’t maintain the improvement in our performance if we remain in these buildings. During the last 12 months we have rejected hundreds of orders.”

Mr Innes outlined plans to add to the management team with new operations director Robin Atkinson appointed.

The company currently employs just under 250 people and turns over £30m.
