Value of Leeds United revealed after share sale to Cellino

BAHRAIN-BASED bank Gulf Finance House has revealed that Leeds United’s total enterprise value is around £50m, following the sale of its shareholding to current owner Massimo Cellino.

The company told the Dubai Financial Markets that it had sold its equity stake of 18% which consisted of 3.5m shares.

GFH said it was unable to disclose any more details about the sale as it was subject to confidentiality agreements.

It sold its remaining stake, reported at the time as 25%, to Mr Cellino, who is now 100% shareholder of the club – making it more attractive to potential bidders.

In a statement at the time, Leeds United said: “The Club is delighted to confirm that Leeds United Football Club is now 100% owned by Eleonora Sport Limited, it having purchased all of the shares previously held by GFH Capital.”

GFH acquired the club from Ken Bates in 2012, selling a 75% stake to Mr Cellino in 2014.
