Yorkshire universities listed in The Times World Rankings

LEEDS BECKETT has been listed in this year’s Times Higher Education table for the first time, whilst other Yorkshire universities feature – though none inside the top 100.

The Times Higher Education table includes just 4% of the world’s 20,000 universities, with 980 institutions in the final listing.

The table includes 91 UK universities. Leeds Beckett along with Bradford and Huddersfield universities, among the top 600-800 in the world.

The University of Manchester came in 55th place, with the University of Sheffield ranking 109th, the University of York at 129th, and the University of Leeds at 133rd.

Professor Peter Slee, Vice-Chancellor of Leeds Beckett University, said: ‘We are delighted to have earned a place in this prestigious table, and to be recognised as one of the world’s top universities.

“It is the growing strength of our research profile, the depth of our employer-led partnerships and the very strong employment record of our graduates that underpin our achievement.”

Of the top five, Oxford came in first place, followed by the California Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
