Hospitality group Seacare snaps up York hotel

SINGAPORE-BASED group Seacare Hospitality has acquired its latest hotel in York.

In partnership with Compass Hospitality, the joint venture has bought the Best Western Plus Milford Hotel.

The 46-room hotel is aimed at both business and leisure clients, and has the Watermill Restaurant & Bar, serving Yorkshire-inspired cuisine.

Three meeting rooms and events spaces also feature. It will be Compass’ 10th UK acquisition, and the sixth which it has partnered on with Seacare.

Seacare Hospitality’s CEO Lim Chye Teen said, “Our latest hotel acquisition further improves our geographic connectivity in the UK and offers a greater choice to our guests in terms of destinations and lifestyle preferences.

“We are pleased with Compass Hospitality’s performance in our five hotels in Cardiff, Cheltenham, Eastbourne, Manchester and Inverness, and we are confident that our hotel in Leeds will do well too.”

Compass Hospitality’s President & CEO Harmil Singh added, “Compass Hospitality enjoys our partnership with Seacare Hospitality. Both of us have made tremendous progress in our respective businesses, tapping into the tourism and economy of the UK.

“Opportunities abound and Compass Hospitality will remain selective in identifying choice hotels with our partners for acquisition and management.”

In addition to its managed hotels in Asia, Compass Hospitality’s managed hotels in the UK include Shrewsbury, Halifax, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Eastbourne, Nottingham, Oxford, Manchester, Inverness and now, Leeds.
