Structural steel manufacturer launches Aire Valley development

LEEDS manufacturer ACS Stainless Steel Fixings is set to launch a speculative build at the Aire Valley Enterprise Zone.

The £17m-turnover manufacturer of structural components for the building sector is launching a build programme of several small and medium-sized industrial units at Thornes Farm.

A year ago the business acquired 6 acres at the site and initially decided to build 50,000 sq ft of head offices and production facilities for themselves.

Now it is going to speculatively develop the remaining 45,650 sq ft.

ACS has applied for planning permission for a number of trade counters and industrial units ranging from 2,650 to 8,650 sq ft.

Property agents Carter Towler will be marketing the new Gateway Trade Park development.

ACS’s managing director David Flannery said: “Our new head office and manufacturing facilities, which will be completed in 2017, will enable us to continue our ambitious expansion plans for the business, whilst investing further in capital equipment to meet continually increasing demand for our products. This is undoubtedly good news for the Leeds economy as we will create more jobs for local people.

“The location is ideal for our expansion; we could see the potential for other businesses too and so we decided to invest in constructing some additional units. The opportunity seemed too good to miss!”

Carter Towler’s associate director Josh Holmes added: “ACS is a progressive company and it’s fantastic to see them doing so well. It might seem to be a bold move to construct these additional premises but there are very few smaller, good quality, industrial premises available in the region. We know there is demand.”
