Lights, camera, action for Yorkshire as movie production set to start filming
AN award-winning director is locating filming of his latest production to Yorkshire.
Mark Murphy, the director behind 2014 film The Crypt, 2015’s Awaiting and The Comedian’s Guide to Survival, which is being premiered in London this week, has chosen locations across Yorkshire for the filming of his latest feature ‘ End of Term’.
The horror film stars Ronald Pickup (Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time, The Mission), Peter Davison (Doctor Who, All Creatures Great and Small), and rising talent Ben Lamb (Divergent, Now You See Me 2).
The film will be shooting on location at Melbourne Hall Estate, Melbourne (near Bubwith); Riccall Business Park; and GSP Studios, which is located in Bubwith, and was the former home of the ARTTS International film, stage and television school – where Mark Murphy was himself once a student.
In the End of Term film, Murphy’s third film in the horror genre, history repeats itself at a renowned art school as a group of graduates are tormented by the lingering presence of Garth Stroman, an artist who had a disturbing vision fifty years prior.
The students – played by Chelsea Edge (Portal, The Lost Generation), Nicola Posener (Mythica: The Darkspore, Mythica: The Necromancer), Charlie McDougall (The Crypt, Awaiting), and Josh Taylor (The Bad Education Movie, Testament of Youth).
Mark Murphy said: “I’m excited about bringing something new to horror fans, as well as a much wider audience. First and foremost, it is going to look stunning, and this is in part helped by the choice of locations and the great care and attention that has been put into sourcing genuine artistic props, scenery and costume elements.
“It’s going to bring an exciting new cast to people’s attention and I have no doubt they will go on to do many great things. It’s a script with some really engaging, funny and lovable characters, that will have you invested in the film from the very start, right through to the end.”
The film the first in a series of horror films being made through a joint venture between york-based GSP Studios, GCB Films, and Solar Productions.
