People: Trio of hires to law firm’s corporate team; Housebuilder makes series of promotions

PROGENY CORPORATE LAW has announced the arrival of its new corporate team.

The trio of hires together bring over 20 years of specialist experience in advising on M&A transactions, in particular private equity backed deals and shareholder investments.

Alistair Scott-Somers has been appointed as director of Progeny Corporate Law, and Laura Clark and Toby Adkins as solicitors. The corporate team will join an already experienced group of senior counsel and directors Jonathan Crew and Richard Larking.

Mr Scott-Somers is an experienced M&A lawyer, specialising across a range of industries, including the chemicals, leisure and food & drink sectors. He was an associate at Eversheds, before working as legal counsel at Premier Farnell. Most recently, Mr Scott-Somers was a partner at a national law firm, leading the firm’s corporate team in the Leeds office, before joining Progeny Corporate Law as a director and shareholder.

Ms Clark and Mr Adkins are corporate solicitors, specialising in a wide range of corporate legal work; they have project managed a number of high value M&A transactions including private equity investments.

Barratt Developments Yorkshire East promotionsA NUMBER of promotions have been made within the commercial department of Barratt Developments Yorkshire East.

Based at the division’s head office in York, the five appointments include Richard Thompson, Dan Boyle and Andreas Symeonides, who have all been promoted to quantity surveyors, following previous roles as assistant quantity surveyors.

Brian Stebbings, who has also been promoted, has taken up a new role as buyer, following his previous role as assistant buyer at Barratt, while Ben Plews is progressing in his role as a commercial trainee as he begins his studies in quantity surveying at Leeds Beckett University this year.
