45,650 sq ft of speculative industrial units planned for Enterprise Zone site

A £17m turnover structural components manufacturer is planning to build a number of small and medium-sized industrial units on Enterprise Zone land it bought last year.

Leeds-based ACS Stainless Steel Fixings (ACS) acquired six acres of land at Thornes Farm Industrial Estate in the Aire Valley Enterprise Zone and is set to build a new head office and production facility, totalling 50,000 sq ft.

It is now planning to speculatively develop the remaining 45,650 sq ft.

ACS has applied for planning permission for a number of trade counters and industrial units ranging from 2,650 to 8,650 sq ft.

Property agents Carter Towler will be marketing the new Gateway Trade Park development.

ACS’s managing director David Flannery said: “Our new head office and manufacturing facilities, which will be completed in 2017, will enable us to continue our ambitious expansion plans for the business, whilst investing further in capital equipment to meet continually increasing demand for our products. This is undoubtedly good news for the Leeds economy as we will create more jobs for local people.

“The location is ideal for our expansion; we could see the potential for other businesses too and so we decided to invest in constructing some additional units. The opportunity seemed too good to miss.”

Carter Towler’s associate director Josh Holmes added: “ACS is a progressive company and it’s fantastic to see them doing so well. It might seem to be a bold move to construct these additional premises but there are very few smaller, good quality, industrial premises available in the region. We know there is demand.
“The added financial benefits offered by the Enterprise Zone in the form of rates relief, will make the Gateway Trade Park even more appealing to businesses looking for a new location. We are looking forward to marketing the new units very much.”
