Apartments on regenerated derelict paper mill site set for launch

A DEVELOPMENT which has seen the regeneration of a derelict paper mill site in Otley is set to launch this weekend.

Garnett Wharfe by David Wilson Homes comprises 36 riverside apartments and this weekend, homebuyers visiting the site will be able to view the executive two bedroom show apartment, which offers views of the river Wharfe and a wrap-around balcony.

Set on the historic site of the Garnett paper mill, the development has also seen the recent installation of two Archimedes screws to form part of its hydroelectric facility, generating electricity from the river weir, making the development carbon neutral on an offset basis.

The facility is the latest in a host of environmental initiatives at Garnett Wharfe, which also includes an otter holt and a fish pass to help protect local wildlife
In additions, Buon Apps, an Italian restaurant in Otley, has confirmed it is opening new premises, offering customers an al fresco dining area and a spacious riverside restaurant.

Dan Hardcastle, sales manager at Garnett Wharfe, said: “Set in a fantastic, idyllic location along the river bank, this is truly one of our most popular developments, which is no surprise. I’m sure our new executive apartments will be snapped up very quickly as they launch with our show apartment soon.

“We’ve striven to ensure that Garnett Wharfe encapsulates the market town of Otley, and with investment in the like of our hydroelectric works at the development, we’re doing everything we can to give back to the local community.”
