People: Trio of senior hires for storage firm; Board appointments for business travel company; and more

YORKSHIRE-based McCarthy’s Removals and Storage has appointed three senior members of staff.

Trading since 1970, McCarthy’s is a family business primarily known for its private and commercial removals services and self-storage facilities. McCarthy’s also offers a range of business services including archived storage and confidential document shredding.

Alan Woodward will be taking the role of group operations manager while Bob Carney joins McCarthy’s as commercial business development manager where he will nurture existing clients and secure new commercial contracts within the self-store, Safe Shred and archive management areas of the business.

Chris Brookes has been appointed as financial controller. He joins McCarthy’s following a successful career in the finance sector working within businesses such as Moda in Pelle, Badgequo and Music Express.

Mike McCarthy, managing director at McCarthy’s, said: “We are delighted to welcome three new arrivals to our senior team. Combined, they bring with them vast industry experience, totalling almost eight decades, and they will each be a valuable addition to the wider team. McCarthy’s continues to go through a period of strong growth so ensuring that we bring in the right people is vital, and we have every confidence that Alan, Bob and Chris will be integral to helping us achieving our future goals.”

The trio will be based at McCarthy’s head office on Meanwood Road, Leeds. The company, which operates in Yorkshire and beyond, has further self-storage facilities for homeowners and businesses in Harrogate and Wakefield.

BUSINESS travel company Good Travel Management has made two additions to its leadership team.

Julie Ornsby has been appointed to the Good Travel Management board as operations director.

Wayne Durkin, who joins the Hull-based company from Beacon Purchasing, where he was director of regional sales, takes up the role of head of sales, marketing and account Management, with responsibility for the business development strategy and offerings to both existing and new clients.

Managing director, Kevin Harrison commented: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Julie to the Good Travel Management board. Her dedication, focus and vision have been instrumental in building the business and will be crucial in realising our ambitious growth plans over the next five years.

“Similarly, Wayne brings extensive experience to Good Travel Management and will be an asset to the leadership team. His knowledge of business travel and other niche travel markets will be invaluable as we define more innovative solutions for our clients and grow our presence both in the UK and globally.”

Mark Hextall CepacCEPAC, the corrugated packaging supplier, has appointed Mark Hextall as head of marketing.

Taking up this newly-created role within the Cepac Group, Mr Hextall joined the business last month from Smurfit Kappa inspirepac where he was a sales director focusing on POS and key national accounts

Working alongside Steve Moss, Cepac’s Group sales and marketing director, he will be tasked with growing the overall Cepac brand and developing new markets and strategies.

Mr Moss said: “As Cepac grows, it’s vitally important to have people of Mark’s calibre joining the business. He brings a wealth of experience to this new role, from hands-on designer to strategic sales director, which will support our growth plans and serve both us and our customers well.”
