New South Asian restaurant for West Yorkshire town

THE businessman behind the World Curry Festival is launching his own South Asian restaurant in Saltaire.

Zulfi Karim is opening his new restaurant, The Curryosity, at 69 Bingley Road.

The concept was launched on 2 December by Welcome to Yorkshire’s Sir Gary Verity and Tour de France race director Christian Prudhomme. It will be officially launched to the public at the end of December.

The casual dining restaurant will serve lunch and dinner daily, with speciality Indian breakfasts available on the weekend.

Mr Karim said that it would focus on local ingredients from suppliers in the Bradford area.

Mr Karim said: “I am excited to be heading in a new direction, and to be opening what I am confident will be a very popular Saltaire eatery and launching the Curryosity brand.

“Saltaire’s rich heritage and the network of local food producers make this the ideal location for the restaurant, and it was wonderful to welcome Sir Gary and Christian as our first official customers.

“I hope to see them here again in the future, and to welcome all the tourists who will undoubtedly flock to the town for the Tour de Yorkshire.”

Leisure and hospitality sector expert and partner at Yorkshire law firm Gordons, Simon Mydlowski, advised Zulfi on the new venue.

Mr Mydlowski said: “Zulfi’s knowledge of South Asian cuisine combined with his passion for the Curryosity concept will make for a very successful venture.

“I am sure that people from Saltaire and from the rest of Yorkshire will flock to the restaurant to experience the vibrant atmosphere and the exceptional food.”
