100-year-old construction firm files for administration

A CONSTRUCTION company which was established more than 100 years ago has filed for administration after posting a loss of more than £2m in its annual accounts.

Hull-based Hall Construction Group, which employs around 110 people, is understood to have filed for administration this week, Hull Daily Mail reported.

The firm told the Mail that it had taken the decision to “protect the company”.

Earlier this year the business published its financial records for up the year to 30 September 2015, which revealed they had made a £2.24m loss, having made a profit of £307,000 the year before.

It is understood that the group is still looking for alternative routes at keeping the family-run company afloat.

“We have taken the decision to file for administration in order to protect the company but we have not taken the decision yet to go into that. We are hoping this is not going to be the case,” a spokesperson for the company told Hull Daily Mail.

One of Hall’s most recent projects was the completion of the acclaimed @TheDock auditorous for client Wykeland beside the C4Di building in the Fruit Market.
