Taste of South America comes to York

INDEPENDENT Brazilian restaurant Vaqueiros has launched in York.

The Micklegate restaurant serves Brazilian rodizio-style barbecued meats

Previously occupied by Silvanos, Vaqueiros is the brainchild of Richard Beal, a York-based restaurateur and head chef and business partner, Eduardo Eduardo Caetano , who hails from Brazil.

The entrepreneurs said that rodizio, which means rotating, refers to the way the passadors (meat carvers) pass from one table to another carving freshly cooked cuts of meats. They said that meats, fish and vegetarian options will be available at the new site.

Eduardo said: “We’ve worked hard to make sure we do real justice to the food prepared and served at Vaqueiros, from our carefully selected team who come from a background of this type of service style, to where we source the ingredients, locally and from Brazil, we ensure the highest standards and the most authentic experience for our guests.”

Richard commented: “It’s a lovely location and I think Micklegate is really up and coming street again, with a lot of interesting things going on in the area, and it’s a vibrancy that we would like to add to.”
