Music industry offers helping hand to local talent

Songwriters, musicians and performers from the local area need to tune in next week as the music industry will be offering free advice to Sheffield’s aspiring talent.

As part of Independent Venue Week, PRS for Music and PPL have gathered a panel of music experts from across the industry to share their advice and knowledge on how to make it in the business.

Taking place at The Harley on Tuesday January 24, the event will offer an opportunity for anyone looking to make a name for themselves in the industry.

Artist manager Sarah Brooksbank, Davy Wales, performer development specialist at PPL and education and outreach manager at PRS for Music, Dan Jones will be speaking on the feeback: music and business panel.

The music organisations and their guest speakers will be discussing the logistics of being in the business including music rights, promotion, generating an income, career options and much more.

Panelist Sarah Brooksbank said: “Music venues like The Harley can be the first step in a long career for many songwriters and performers, which makes it the perfect place to host a talk offering valuable advice from PRS for Music and PPL to anyone who wants to get involved in the music industry.”
