Charity: Eversheds runners support cancer charity and Leeds Community Foundation looks to add to its trustee team

Runners from Eversheds have supported local charity Team Verrico by running the Anna Verrico Isle of Axenholme half marathon at the end of 2016.

Team Verrico was set up by Eversheds regulatory partner, Paul Verrico, following the tragic death of his wife Anna Verrico from breast cancer.

Mr Verrico said that his wife championed the ‘never give up’ philosophy throughout her battle with cancer and she was heroic to the end setting a great example for her beloved children Lucia and Alessandro.

He said this gave him the conviction to set up the Team Verrico charity to promote Anna’s philosophy and to help other families to adopt it whilst going through the challenging fight against cancer.

The Eversheds team helped push Lucia and Alessandro in buggies round the course which inevitably ended up in a race between siblings.

Lucia finished in a respectable time under 2 hours and Alessandro was gracious in coming in second.

Eversheds provided continued financial support through its charitable trust set up by the Eversheds partners and senior office partner, Paul Cotton, presented principal associate, Simon Harris, with a cheque to add to the amount of funds raised by the team. The next challenge is the Great North Run in September 2017.
