Family-owned manufacturer doubles Sheffield operations

A family-owned engineering subcontractor is doubling the size of its Sheffield fitting operation.

£6m turnover company PCT manufactures tow bars and supplies the camping and caravan markets.

PCT, which was founded in 1926 and employs 65 people, is adding an additional 1,000 sq ft to its facilities to keep up with demand.

“There has been bumper growth in the camping and caravanning sector in recent years, ” said James Harding-Terry, managing director at PCT.

“More and more families want to “get away from it all” and the poor performance of the pound against the Euro means Brits are happy to holiday in the UK. We’ve seen a year on year increase in the number of towbars we’re manufacturing and selling.

“The camping and caravanning market is set to be worth more than £3.2bn by 2020 and as one of Europe’s leading towbar manufacturers we want to ensure we can meet demand and offer our customers a first-class fitting service.”

PCT is able to fit a full range of towbars and has invested in two mobile fitting units which will be visiting dealerships to fit products.

Other products such as cycle racks and roof boxes can also be fitted at PCT site in Halfway, Sheffield.
