People: Key promotion boosts law firm’s employment team; Insolvency and commercial law firm expands; and more

Employment law specialist Tom Draper has been made a partner and head of the employment team at Sheffield solicitors Taylor&Emmet.

Draper will now seek to grow the employment team in sectors including construction, the motor trade and education.

Josh Fielding has qualified as a solicitor with specialist insolvency and commercial law firm Carrick Read Josh Fielding has qualified as a solicitor with specialist insolvency and commercial law firm Carrick Read after completing his training contract.

A graduate of Hull University, he obtained a distinction in the Legal Practices Course in York placing him in the top bracket of law students finalising their practical training before starting a legal career.

Andrew Laycock, partner at the Leeds-based firm, said: “We are delighted that Josh has accepted our offer to remain with the firm. He will be assisting the team in all areas of insolvency and commercial work.”

Jo Haigh Solid ShedsJo Haigh, CEO of Wakefield-based fds Director Services, has been appointed as non-executive chair of Solid Sheds, a manufacturer and retailer of timber buildings from storage sheds to garden offices.

Haigh has joined Solid Sheds to support its continued growth.

She said: “I am extremely excited to join the team at Solid Sheds. There is so much potential in this business and I can’t wait to get stuck in and help the tam there achieve their goals.”

Better Placed RecruitmentBetter Placed Recruitment, which has offices in Leeds, Manchester and London, has appointed Ian Lenehan as manager of agency recruitment.

In his new role, he will strengthen the team specialising in agency, creative, digital and PR recruitment across the Yorkshire and North West markets.

The agency division has also been strengthened with the appointment of George Jackson and Sarah Chester, increasing the team to seven.
