Leeds prepares for invasion as design agency moves in

An interior design firm is launching in Leeds following its acquisition by furniture business Southerns.

Manchester-based SpaceInvader is launching a 4,000 sq ft office in Leeds in April, its third permanent base after London.

It recently completed the fit-out of the new SkyBet offices in Wellington Place and has projects ongoing with Zenith at Kirkstall Forge.

It will create 30 jobs with the move.

SpaceInvader is part of the Andy Kendall Jones’ £45m group which employs 250 staff across five offices. He acquired the business along with Broadstock Office Furniture.

John Williams, director of SpaceInvader, (pictured above) said: “We’re very proud to be opening a substantial base in Leeds. As the amount of business we’ve won in the city has grown, it’s become increasingly important for us to create a home for ourselves. The closer proximity to our ongoing and future projects will allow us to ensure that we provide the best possible service for our clients.

“Becoming part of the Southerns Group has allowed us to considerably accelerate the move and shows the strength of support for SpaceInvader. 4,000 square feet is a very large space so we will be looking to build the team substantially over the next couple of years and there may be a few other surprises in the space too. Leeds is quite clearly a city on the rise and we’re delighted to be moving in.”
