Manufacturer says cheers to European business boost

Proton Group, a manufacturer of specialist hygiene products for the brewery and pub trade, is toasting to European success after securing two business wins.

Directors Murray Angus and David Shaw have secured a joint venture with Calvatis GmbH which will allow further trade and distribution of Proton products in Germany, with other countries to follow.

The company has also helped to deliver a European website of best practice measures using its patented products to Diageo, owners of some of the world’s most famous drinks brands such as Smirnoff, Guinness and Baileys, to help enhance the quality of their beer offering and provide Proton’s recommended hygiene solutions to serve the perfect pint.

Murray Angus, managing director of the Normanton-based business, said: “We have weathered many different climates in over 40 years of being in business and took the stance that for us it was business as usual after the (Brexit) vote.

“Ultimately European companies want to do business with Britain and that is extremely positive for all of us. We have recently made significant investment in our business to strengthen our position in the marketplace as we push our brand into the global arena.

“This includes new line packing and labelling machinery, upgraded websites, increased staffing, and an office reconfiguration as we evolve our online business presence for the digital age but without losing the personal element that has been paramount to our success.”
