No use crying over spilt tea as Taylors recalls teapots

Taylors of Harrogate, owners of the Yorkshire Tea brand, have recalled a selection of teapots and ceramics after customers found that they cracked under prolonged use.

The ceramics were bought through Amazon and independent retailers after November 2015.

Customers reported that the teapot bottoms fell through during normal use.

Taylors said that they were tested against the relevant British Safety Standard and did not crack, but more extensive testing had revealed its structural weaknesses.

It said: “More extensive testing revealed the potential for fracture or breakages during normal use. Therefore, in the interests of our customers’ safety, we’ve taken the decision to implement a recall of all the ceramics made by the same manufacturer.”

Ceramics affected include: the Yorkshire Tea 1-litre Teapot; the Yorkshire Tea Teapot for One; the Yorkshire Tea Big Tea Mug and the Yorkshire Tea Milk Jug.
