Coaching inn undergoes £1m refurbishment

A Tudor-era coaching inn is set to close as it undergoes a major £1m refurbishment.

The Golden Fleece in Thirsk is being shut down for eleven weeks from 6 March.

It was acquired in 2015 by Coaching Inn Group who are launching the investment.

Hotel manager, Neil Doogan, said: “As a much loved, iconic local landmark, we wanted to maximise our prime location to ensure we are known as the go-to-place in Thirsk for family-friendly, relaxed all-day dining.

“The next eleven weeks will see major work conducted on the property to breathe a new lease of life into the historic coaching inn, whilst maintaining its Tudor architecture.

“The plans look fantastic and we’re very excited to be introducing our new Eatery and Coffee House concept, which will see the addition of locally sourced produce, contemporary twists on traditional favourites plus our popular sharing menu.”
