Confectionery business to invest £3m in growth

A North Yorkshire confectionery business is spending £3m on an ambitious European expansion programme.

Pecan Deluxe Candy, based in Sherburn in Elmet, is part of a Texas-based family company.

It has operations across the US, Europe and the Far East and around 250 employees.

Pecan Deluxe Candy is also investing in a major upgrade development programme, which is says is needed to tailor its products to new flavours and trends.

It acquired the Harriet Webster factory in Yorkshire in 2000, marking its launch into Europe, and will now be investing millions of pounds over the next 18 months as it looks to expand.

Graham Kingston, managing director of Pecan Deluxe Candy’s Europe and APAC (Asia Pacific) regions explained: “Pecan Deluxe is investing heavily in infrastructure, facilities and staff in order to consolidate the company’s reputation as a global ‘food tailor’, creating custom-engineered solutions according to localised tastes and legislation. I am totally committed to the ongoing development of the company, especially maximising relationships between Western and Eastern markets to the ultimate benefit of both geographies.”

The company specialises in ice cream, bakery goods, cereals and confectionery.
