Entrepreneurs acquire North Yorkshire egg production business

Entrepreneurs have acquired an egg production business in North Yorkshire, and are investing £800,000 in the business to see it expand.

The Minskip Farm Shop near Boroughbridge has been acquired by Ben and Emma Mosey. They plan to invest in the site, adding a cafe and turning it into a family attraction.

Before acquiring the business, the Moseys travelled and lived abroad in Australia and Indonesia, before moving to Helmsley two years ago.

Ben Mosey’s family have a pig and sheep farm nearby, and now the duo have one of their own.

Langleys Solicitors, York, acted for the Moseys on the purchase which includes farmland, agricultural buildings, the farm shop and farm house.

Emma Mosey, who is also an author, said: “We have always been passionate about food and its provenance and Minskip Farm Shop is the perfect opportunity for us to get involved in our own venture.

“We will continue to grow seasonal produce on the farm and support the shop’s local and very loyal customers. We very much want high quality, locally grown and sourced produce to remain at the heart of the business.”

Rachel Witherick, solicitor in commercial property at Langleys, said: “We are very pleased to support Ben and Emma as they embark on their first shop and food production venture. Minskip Farm Shop is well placed to flourish even further as part of their vision for the business.”
