Packaging group relocates with £2.4m site

Simpson Packaging has acquired a £2.4m site at the Ossett 40 development near Wakefield.

The purpose-built development was delivered by Gregory Property Group.

Family-owned Simpson is a 30 year-old business relocating from Dewsbury. It is planning on reaching £15m in revenues this year.

A further £500,000 has been invested in a fit-out to facilitate expansion plans.

Tony Dawes, one of the founding partners of the Simpson Packaging Group, which also operates White Rose Packaging and Dependable Packaging and employs 90 people, said:

“”We are absolutely delighted with the new building. Gregory Property Group presented a unique opportunity for us to design and build a new facility that is perfectly located for distribution access. We had outgrown our previous premises but needed to stay locally to retain our valued workforce.

“The new facility at Ossett 40 more than doubles our operating space with greater height, more office accommodation and extended parking allowing us to invest in state-of-the art equipment for greater stockholding and faster moving stock lines.”

Gregory Property Group acquired the three-acre Ossett site late 2014 and secured full planning consent to deliver 57,000 sq ft of light industrial accommodation. T

he pre-sale to Simpson Packaging ‘kick started’ the development and Gregory sold the last two 12,000 sq ft units before completion towards the end of last year.

Billfinger GVA and Gent Visick in Leeds were joint agents for Gregory.
