MBI completed at Unisurf Engineering

SPECIALIST surface engineering firm Unisurf Engineering, which has worked on industries ranging from Formula One to sewage treatment, has undergone a management buy-in.
Lee Speight has led the MBI at the Bradford-based company.
Sheffield-based Castle Square Corporate Finance, led by Kevan Shaw, advised Mr Speight on the deal.
Mr Speight is experienced within the engineering sector, having previously developed a number of manufacturing businesses, including turnarounds.
Unisurf Engineering is an expert in the field of surface technology and precision engineering serving industries from Formula 1 to newspapers and print and sewage treatment, counting News International and Sulzer Pumps among its customers.
Legal advice on the deal was provided by Lupton Fawcett’s Sheffield team led by Adrian Hackett.
The Castle Square team led negotiations with John Davis of Venture Finance’s Yorkshire team in providing a finance package to help Mr Speight grow the business. Barclays Bank remain in place as bankers to Unisurf.
Mr Speight said: “This is something that I have been working towards for some time and Castle Square were very supportive in the search phase and made a real difference in the negotiation and conclusion of the deal.”
Mr Shaw said: “We have been working with Lee for some time and it is very satisfying to have found a first class business to suit Lee’s talents, I know he will take every opportunity to develop this business.
“The deal demonstrates that the Yorkshire deal market is still very much open for business and with the right advisers in place quality deals can and will happen.”
