LEADING friendly society, Sheffield Mutual, has appointed a new Chief Executive.

Tony Burdin joined the society from Scarborough Building Society's Channel Islands subsidiary, where he was Managing Director.

Mr Burdin will replace Andrew Townsley, who leaves the Society after seven years to join Kingston Unity Friendly Society.
