Southdale pledge support to Leeds hospital charity fund
25th February 2010
HOME owners hoping to brighten up their pad and give it some show home glitz, are being asked to dig deep in their pockets this weekend, when Leeds Teaching Hospitals (LTH) Charitable Foundation hosts a unique charity furniture sale in Leeds.
Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen wannabes with an eye for the latest interior décor, can pick up a bargain at the ‘Changing Your Rooms' charity furniture sale on Saturday 27th February at the Ready Steady Store on Roseville Road in Leeds.
The event is hosted by LTH Charitable Foundation, with all proceeds helping hospitals in Leeds, by paying for vital state-of-the-art equipment and research that is outside the reach of the NHS. The stylish ex-show home furniture was kindly donated by Halifax-based construction company, Southdale which has provided the charity with over £50,000 worth of designer home furnishings and accessories to sell at the store on Saturday.
Also helping make the event possible is a dedicated team of volunteer students from Leeds Met University, who have assisted with all aspects of its organisation.
The charitable foundation has recently launched a new children's appeal and has recently helped pay for new computer games consoles for both the children's ward and elderly ward at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).
Jacquie Cross, development manager at the LTH Charitable Foundation, commented: "Thanks to the help and support from students at Leeds Met University and the generous donation by Southdale, our event will hopefully raise vital funds and provide an opportunity for those looking to pick up some stylish home furnishings whilst helping a good cause. The foundation is dedicated to improving the environment for patients and staff across hospitals throughout Leeds and solely dependent on the kind and continued generosity of local people."
Paul Oldridge, land and sales director at Southdale, said: "We're always keen to help good causes which benefit the local community and hope this donation of our surplus show home furniture can provide a massive fundraising boost to the foundation and all the hospitals it supports."
