York St John Business School's ethos is to help improve business performance and resilience and to strengthen economic growth in York and the wider region. It does this through a comprehensive learning and development programme, providing access to funding, developing effective partnerships with the private and public sectors and supporting start-up firms.

Located in the heart of York, the Business School is rapidly expanding locally, nationally and internationally, and it has exciting growth plans to enable it to continue attracting outstanding graduates as well as developing and stimulating tomorrow's business leaders.

Practical business services and training

The most visible aspect of the Business School's work is its programme of courses and workshops, which give businesses access to some of the region's most respected leadership and management trainers.

The programme is designed to stimulate and develop tomorrow's business leaders; equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive and grow their businesses; and inspire them to think creatively and strategically about both their organisational and personal development.

Courses include:

• Masters suite - incorporating an MBA and Masters in Global Marketing, International Business, Finance, Strategic Human Resource Management, Leadership and Management, Creativity and Design and Leading Innovation and Change.

• Learning through Business Leaders - run in partnership with the Northern Leadership Academy.

• Acorns Programme - now in its sixth successful year, this intensive week-long course equips entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to set up a business with confidence.

Experience and diverse expertise

The Business School's 50-strong team comprises people with backgrounds in industry, giving businesses access to a wealth of senior level business experience, expertise and contacts across a range of sectors and in key areas including change management, leadership, management and communication.

It has a well-established network of external speakers who are nationally and internationally recognised and regularly contribute to Business School courses and events.

A clear bridge between academia and business

York St John Business School has from the outset built its offering around the needs of 21st century businesses. That permeates everything from undergraduate programmes and start-up incubation services, right through to professional mentoring and its research areas.

Developing strategic partnerships with organisations in the region, nationally and internationally is key to the Business School's success and commitment to giving businesses exposure to global knowledge and commerce. Partnerships are already in place with Microsoft, Nestlé, Mars and City of Seville Council, among others.
