Yorkshire firm wins big at training awards

11th March 2010

A YORKSHIRE learning and development consultancy has been recognised in this year's annual Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) awards for a programme that has helped almost 700 people across the UK enhance their existing leadership skills.

The Lead to Transform programme, developed and delivered by Leeds-based Footprint Learning & Development for Home Group - one of the UK's largest providers of affordable housing and care and support services - won the ‘Developing People' award at the North East CIPD awards last week.

The three-strong Footprint team helped Home beat off stiff competition from organisations including one of Northumberland's biggest employers to win.

Footprint director, Vicky Holland, says, "Home was looking for a programme that would help its leaders understand the type of leadership required in the organisation; give them confidence in leading teams and people through change and uncertainty; equip them with coaching skills and develop versatility in their leadership by exposing them to different leadership styles.

"We worked closely with the in-house People Management and Development team team to conceive, develop and deliver a two-day programme to approximately 700 leaders across the UK over seven months. The programme was very practical, giving people tools and techniques to enable them to drive the best performance from their teams."

Susan Coulson, Home's Director of People Management and Development, said: "We're delighted to have won this award as we've put in a lot of hard work. We firmly believe that the Lead to Transform programme has made a big difference to our workforce as well as the customers and clients who we serve. Everyone involved has responded magnificently and it has made a massive contribution towards the transformation of the organisation.

"The team at Footprint helped us develop a programme that was very practical, giving opportunities for people to practise new skills and bring ‘real life' scenarios to the course which they could then go back and implement in their day-to-day roles."

Footprint Learning & Development was established in 2005 and has offices in Leeds and East Boldon. The three directors - Vicky Holland, Mandy Holloway and Tom Welburn - have 50 years of combined industry experience working with clients such as Ofsted, T-Mobile, Orange, a variety of local councils and the global finance sector.

Footprint is looking forward to continuing this success with their clients in 2010 developing exciting solutions around the topics of work life balance, sales and service, leadership and management.
