£4.5m turnover training company falls into liquidation

Liquidators have been appointed across a £4.5m turnover group providing apprenticeship and funded qualification training.

Nordic Pioneer Limited was placed into liquidation on 11 October followed by Focus Training & Development Limited on 29 November 2016.

Reflecting on the Darlington-based Group’s demise, Liquidator James Sleight from PKF Geoffrey Martin & Co commented: “The group had been experiencing increasingly difficult trading conditions as a result of a tightening in government funding, issues with the release of European Funding and an increasing propensity for colleges to provide training in-house rather than outsource.

“Following the failure of Nordic Pioneer in October, management had secured some additional investment, however, ultimately the cash flow pressure created by Nordic’s liquidation, combined with an adverse Ofsted report resulted in the failure of Focus Training several weeks later.
