Logged off: Olly Betts, Bizfitech

Olly Betts, co-founder and CEO of Bizfitech, has just launched Handle to help small businesses take control of their online reputation. He’ll be a busy man, so how will he relax?

How do you relax at the weekend?
For me the weekend starts on Friday there is always room for a Taylor (Taylor Swift “Swifty”) after a hard working week. I’m brought back down to earth by the dog barking as soon as the sun rises Saturday morning, so it’s out for a walk rain or shine, then for a swim.

How many hours do you work at the weekend on average?
I clock up the hours in the week, if I’m not in first and leaving last the team think something is wrong. I’ve always been very good about weekends being for family but as those running their own business will know, your mind never stops working, some of my best ideas come from being out in the fresh air or over a glass of wine with my wife.

What’s your favourite:
– holiday destination? Ibiza. I’ve been going since my teens and there is no place like it. I reckon I have 5 years left on the White Isle before the young and the beautiful start looking at me funny. More recently it has been a sanctuary for me and my wife since we met and means a lot to us as I proposed there.

– album? Kasabian – everyone claims to have a before they were famous story, so here’s mine, I saw these guys when I lived in Leicester years ago and have made every effort to see them live whenever I can ever since. The best live band ever and I’ve had a pint with lead singer Tom…my CTO always shows me up because as he can go one better and hangs out with Serg from time to time.

– food? Nottingham has had a food explosion in recent years and I like to dine in local businesses to support them, plus with passion comes great food. My current favourite is a Bibimbap from Miss Korea you can’t beat it. I tend to cook a lot at home and do a mean roast dinner.

– TV programme? I watch TV a lot and i’m not picky. I watch all the staged reality shows (Made in Chelsea, The Only Way is Essex etc.) I like to think it’s in some attempt to keep a track of what is “relevant” but the truth is it’s people watching in your living room. I am also fully bought into the shift to big Box set headliners the best I have seen in the last three years is True Detective.

– website/app? I just checked my iPhone to see the most used app… I love a top 5 so here we go: 1 – BBC Sport because I will watch any sport; 2 – Nike Running App – people tell me I need to use Strava but this is free and does the trick; 3 – Google Maps – gone are the days of reading road signs or using landmarks to navigate the world; 4 – Uber – so happy its come to Nottingham; and 5 – Sky+ in case I forget to record something when I’m on the road.

How do you usually spend Sunday evenings?
For me Sunday evenings are time for lazing in front of the TV, doing nothing. I am not one of these people who doesn’t stop and is always operating at a hundred miles an hour… I need to unwind, recharge and be ready to go on Monday morning.
