All jobs saved as plant hire firm sold in pre-pack deal

A Leicestershire plant hire firm has been sold out of administration, with all jobs saved.

County Plant Hire, which trades as Apex Plant from a site in Lutterworth has traded as a construction equipment rental business since 2007.

According to administrators, the company was successful but was hit in 2020/21 due to the Pandemic. In 2022/23 trading improved, but Apex Plant was then hit by changes in building regulations and work began to decline.

John Rimmer from BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency told TheBusinessDesk.com: “BRI were approached to give advice in February. Options for rescue were explored and the board decided that with the assistance of independent valuation agents, a period of marketing the business for sale would be undertaken.”

This led to a pre-packaged sale being agreed and completed to a connected party on 11 March with the John Rimmer and Lauren Auburn being appointed as joint administrators the day before, on 10 March 2025.

Rimmer added: “This enabled the business to continue to trade along with the assistance of all the company’s employees who were transferred without any redundancies having needed to be made.”

According to its latest available accounts, made up to the end of July 2023, County Plant Hire employed 16 people.
